Children & Families
Parents are their children’s first and best teachers. We see ourselves as partners with parents in helping children learn about the love of Jesus and coming to know God. Our greatest hope for your children, though, is not just that they will know about God, but that they become engaged and participating members of this Christian community.
To facilitate this we have Children's Church during our 9:30am Sunday Mass (except on the first Sunday of the month) for children aged approximately 6-12. The teaching programme is based on the biblical readings of the day accompanied by art & craft activities and worship.
Younger children stay with their parents in church for the service. Occasionlly they may make some noise! Please do not worry about this; children's enthusiastic expressions of faith can help transform the church and everyone in it.
On the first Sunday of the month all children remain in church for the service when we generally have baptisms. Children who have heard and experienced bible stories, who know our hymns, have been present at Mass and have heard the words at baptism, will have the building blocks on which to discuss, when they are older, the matters of faith and life. The language and practice of our faith is becoming a part of them.
